Spy Sweeper is a neat little program to check for spy-ware. Its purpose is to detect and eliminate harmful spy-ware that may threaten one's privacy. Sometimes email may contain spy-ware.

I recently purchased and installed this software because I suspected I had extra stuff running on my computer. Apparently I was right. Spy Sweeper found 20 odd pieces of software to quarantine and over 3,800 other traces! My PC seems to run faster now, too. However, every once in awhile it freezes for about 10 seconds. (I am still running Windows 98.) I suspect Spy Sweeper is doing something.

This program is easy to install and costs about $30 at CompUSA. Other than the rare freeze for a few seconds, it is non-intrusive and seems to do a good job at catching those pesky traces and Trojan programs. After installing, go to Options and Active Shields to be sure it checks for what you want. u
