The Louisiana State University digital library has many old photographs pertaining to Louisiana, including many plantation structures.

This plantation home, Belle Grove, built in 1857 at the center of a 7,000 acre sugar plantation lasted into the 1950's, eventually succumbing to deteration and finally a fire in 1952. Costing a fortune to build, with 75 rooms and silver doorknobs, it lasted less than a century.
