Meeting Preview: AgeSpan (http://www.agespan.com) will give a program on their approach to computing for older individuals. As usual, we will have our Windows/computer discussion for the first half hour of the meeting.

The slow, raining days of summer are now in full swing. Or are the days getting cooler as winter starts to cool things off? I look outside and see hot and rainy days and sit inside at my computer and hear about how things are getting colder in Australia (it’s winter down under). I have family there and we’ve been talking through Instant Messaging (IM) quite a bit. I’ve even been introduced to new family members only through IM. It’s the new way to keep in touch with people. I don’t seem to be alone either, as many people are discovering the advantages of Right-Now short messages. Even in the workplace an IM can be faster and less disruptive than other methods of contact such as knocking on a door or calling a phone extension.
