One of the Storyville Portraits
by E. J. Bellocq
Storyville was the red light district of New Orleans in the early part of the 1900s. A local photographer, E. J. Bellocq, photographed some of the women who worked there around 1912. At http://www.masters-of-photography.com/, the Masters of Photography site, you can view some of these photos, the one above being one of the more modest. In addition to Bellocq, while there you can view the works of many of the better known photographers of the 20th century. Additionally there are articles about the photographers.
