Hi ho fellow computer fans! Im enjoying this president thing. Its just a lot of fun working with all you great people.
Thanks to James Weber for contacting Glen Gasbarrow of e-stamp and allowing us another interesting presentation. Ive been considering online postage for a few months and now Im going to try it. I bought the e-stamp software at buy.com and Im waiting for it to arrive. As I use the product, Ill try to get an article to William for the newsletter.
This is my second reminder that the Florida Association of Computer Users Groups is holding their Spring Conference in Kissimmee Florida. The conference will begin March 4th. There will be registration and networking on Friday night. The conference will run through March 6th (Sunday afternoon). The conference is for officers of Florida user groups to get together and exchange ideas on ways to make their groups better. Anyone who is interested in attending can be given temporary officer status. For more information go to http://www.facug.org . If you want to go, let me or any of the officers know.
On April 4th at 7pm, The Greater Tampa Bay Computer Users Group will host a Microsoft presentation at USF in the Bio Science Facility auditorium. The Bio Science Facility is known as BSF and is located just west of the northern end of the main entrance of USF (from Fowler Ave.). The auditorium is room 100 and is bracketed by the "L" shaped BSF building and can seat 200 people in a theater-style setting. Weve been invited to attend. I told Parker Monroe that he should be able to count on at least 30 of us attending, so if you have an interest in whatever Microsoft has to present, please try to make it. USF now requires all visitors to pay a $2.00 parking fee. You will need to stop at the Visitors Center located just off of Fowler on the East side of the main entrance road. You can get more information about USF at http://www.usf.edu and a map at http://www.lib.usf.edu/geninfo/campus.html. We will also have our regular April 12th meeting.
I saw a few of you at the Microsoft Windows 2000 "Event" (their word, not mine!). I never nap in the afternoon, but I was sure tempted. I also rarely complain, but I really felt my time had been terribly wasted. The program was disorganized and uninformative. I did run into some old friends from my SYSOP days, so it wasnt a total waste.
Dan Pfeiffer of CompUSA will be the presenter at our March 8th meeting. Hes done several presentations for the Brandon group, so it should be a good meeting. Please come and bring a friend.
Once again I need to mention that the presentations calendar for 2000 is almost empty. If you have experience with a specific program, please share your talents with the group. If you arent comfortable standing up and giving a presentation, then write down what you know and submit it to William LaMartin for the newsletter. The strength of the group is based on the efforts of each individual. Hope to see you on March 8th. u
