As another Christmas approaches. I feel privileged to be writing this column. I’ve so enjoyed being your president. I look forward to a successful 2001. The election will be held at our Christmas Party/December meeting, but since we only have one person running for each office, I’m hoping the voting goes smoother than the national election went. I welcome any suggestions that will make the club better. I also encourage everyone to attend the meeting and let your vote count.

I will be starting classes on November 30th. It’s important for the group that things continue to run smoothly. I will be asking for help as my available time reaches the breaking point. Don’t hesitate to tell me no if you feel unable to help and please don’t commit to anything you’re unable to accomplish.

Recently I went to William LaMartin’s house to help with the newsletter. Later on his way to the post office, William was involved in a car accident. Luckily he wasn’t injured. I was amazed to find out that a couple of hours later he had driven to the post office to mail the newsletters. That’s certainly above and beyond, and I want to thank him for his continued excellence and dedication.

We sometimes fail to acknowledge what we appreciate and just assume that others know how we feel. I am so thankful that Merle Nicholson is doing so well and is able to continue to attend our meetings. He’s been such an asset to our group and it’s wonderful to know he’s well and healthy again.

I’m leaning towards "mushy" here so I’ll end the article. Happy Holidays to Everyone!! u
