Minutes of the September Meeting

By William LaMartin, Editor, Tampa PC Users Group

Since the official minutes were not available at press time, what follows is a reconstruction of the meeting to the best of your editor’s memory.

Our presenter from BCD didn’t show. Thus, with a little forewarning Mary Sheridan lined up member Brian Lance, who just happens to work at BCD, to do a presentation for part of the meeting. She also persuaded William LaMartin to speak.

The meeting started at 6:00 with Mary Sheridan leading the Windows SIG discussion. We continued this a little longer than usual since our scheduled speaker was not coming.

Merle Nicholson then took over and conducted the group’s business session. Bruce Register then reminded everyone about the upcoming election of officers. We will have nominations at the November meeting and vote at the December meeting.

Brian Lance then did a presentation on the software product he uses to diagnose hardware problems with computers, demonstrating the various tests available for the different components

Brian’s presentation was followed by William LaMartin displaying the statistics for the group’s web site for the month of September. Of note was that we averaged 134 user sessions per day with each visitor staying an average of 7.5 minutes. He highlighted the most visited pages—some surprises here—and noted that AltaVista was by far the leading search engine directing people to our site. u
