Minutes of the April Meeting

Our secretary was absent from the meeting, and no one realized it, so we have no official record of what transpired. Briefly, though, here is Mary Sheridan‘s best recollection.

As usual, Mary Sheridan conducted a Windows discussion at the beginning of the meeting.

Tom Walsh from American Power Conversion (APC) spoke to us about surge protectors and Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS). He explained that the danger to electrical components from electrical surges was well known, but that the greatest damage to PC's can be the brown-outs that occur all the time. He also was very generous in providing one of the UPSs for our drawing, which was won by John Whitmer. Tom also offered huge discounts to the user group members. Several pieces of software were also raffled.
